The Rajasthan Shravan Viklaang Sansthan (RSVS) proudly announces the launch of its latest initiative, “Shaksham”, a holistic and inclusive development project aimed at transforming the lives of children and individuals with disabilities. This pioneering project is now being implemented in two critical regions — Bharatpur, Rajasthan and Bathinda, Punjab — where the need for inclusive rehabilitation and educational services is profound.
What is Project Shaksham?
“Shaksham” means ‘capable’ — a word that reflects the core belief of RSVS: every individual, regardless of ability, has the potential to lead a dignified, empowered life. Through this initiative, RSVS aims to create inclusive spaces where children with disabilities can thrive alongside their peers, and receive access to services they are often denied in mainstream systems.
Project Shaksham includes:
- Inclusive Special Schools with academic, therapeutic, and life skill education
- Rehabilitation and Therapy Centres offering speech therapy, audiology, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy
- Vocational Skill Development programs tailored to individual capabilities
- Parental Counseling and Awareness Workshops
- Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) outreach services in rural and semi-urban areas
Why Bharatpur and Bathinda?
Both Bharatpur and Bathinda represent regions where access to specialized services for persons with disabilities (PwDs) remains minimal, especially in rural belts.
- In Bharatpur, RSVS has a long-standing history of empowering the differently-abled community. With Project Shaksham, we aim to expand our footprint and introduce structured education and therapy-based interventions.
- In Bathinda, the project marks RSVS’s significant step into Punjab, where we aim to bring our proven models of community-driven disability support into underserved localities.
